Inherit data from the main track

Tracks with Codes or Attribute data can inherit the main track's data and display it on the alternate tracks.

This feature will:

  • Display the inherited data on the alternate tracks
  • Export metadata with inherited data on the alternate tracks when alternate tracks data is empty
  • Provide additional settings on Advanced Import and Code & Attribute Import to
  • Allow you to import data on main tracks whilst leaving the alternate versions blank whilst inheriting the main track data

Prerequisites:

  • Advise Harvest which Code or Attribute fields you would like this switched on for
  • Albums must have main/alternate relationships set up. See guide here

How to configure:

  1. Once Harvest has turned on this feature for you on your chosen codes or attributes
  2. Head to Account Settings > Advanced Metadata > Field Settings
  3. Click this cog icon on the relevant section
  4. In the popup window, turn on the 'Inherit from main' toggle to ON

Note: If this toggle is switched off, any alternate track that inherited data will no longer display any data and will be blank.

Import Settings

A new button will appear in Advanced Import and Code & Attribute Import.

Click to enable any fields with 'Inherit from main' on and import files as normal.

When 'Apply to alternate tracks' is selected, files where alternate tracks are blank will inherit the main track's data. If an alternate track contains data unique to it's main track, this data will be retained and will not show the main track's data.

Exporting Metadata

When 'Inherit from main' is on, exporting metadata for albums or labels will display the inherited data from the main track unless the alternate track contains unique data.

Edit Track / Album

Fields with inherited data will display as read only and will display an icon with advise on where the data is being populated from.

If you wish to edit the alternate track with it's own code/attribute, use the Import tools to override the inherit rules.

Sub Publishers

Agents who have received content from your account and have the same Global Code/Attribute fields set to active in Account Settings > Advanced Metadata > Field Settings will see the same read only data.

Note this applies to ISRC and ISWC when set to Agent Access - On.
